History
Hohai Civil Engineering School was founded in 1915 and was merged with the Department of Engineering of Southeast University into Hohai College of Engineering in 1924 and later incorporated the Fourth Zhongshan University in 1927 and became the Department of Water Resources, Central University in 1928. With the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, it became the Department of Water Resources, Nanjing University. In 1952 the Departments of Water Conservancy, Hydrology, and Water Resources of Nanjing University, Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University and the East China Engineering School of Water Resources were merged into the East China Technical University of Water Resources. In 1985 it resumed the original name Hohai and was named Hoahi University and the late leader, Mr. Deng Xiaoping, inscribed this name.

Hohai University Held the Campus Culture
On May 4th, Hohai University held the opening ceremony of the 30th Campus Culture and Art Festival and organized the 2018 Refined and Classic Art into Campus Activity of Jiangsu province—Chinese folk dance drama Solar Terms in Jiangnan. Solar Terms in Jiangnan is created by the Nanjing Literature and Arts Federation, Jiangsu Performing Arts and Culture Communication Ltd., and the School of Dances at Nanjing University of the Arts.
With the background of twenty-four solar terms, Solar Terms in Jiangnan described the south of the Yangtze River. Using a lot of intangible cultural heritage elements, it drew pictures of the sundial, the rain, the wind, the moon and the snow and reveals the Chinese philosophy of the season’s reincarnation, the return of life and the unity of heaven and man. The performance provides Hohai University’s students and teachers with a great insight into the excellent traditional Chinese culture, the national spirit and patriotism.

Only foreign Scholars can apply for this Subsidy. The age limit for Master’s degrees is 35 years and for PhD programs is 40 years old. The applicants must have a good Academic Record in their previous studies. Experience in Research for Master’s and PhD programs will be given preference. Chinese or English courses must be there. No criminal record should be there.
